Couples Therapy

Do you and your spouse or partner find yourselves having circular discussions or arguments about the same topic(s) only to find yourselves even more frustrated than before you spoke? Or perhaps you avoid certain “hot topics” because you’ve lost hope that you’ll find a resolution? Do you struggle with communicating about your sex life? Well, you’re not alone and over time these issues become deeply rooted in your relationship and can create a disconnect between you and your loved one.

Not feeling like your sex life is what it used to be? As we age, so do our bodies and with that comes changes in hormone function and other physiological changes that can (and do) impact our sex drive and overall sexual functioning.  On top of the physiological changes are the multiple stressors we are faced with daily.  Life is busy and stressful and let’s face it, we’re exhausted by the end of the day. We often value getting that little bit of extra sleep over exerting energy into having sex.

Good conflict resolution skills are one of the most important indicators of overall happiness in a relationship. Conflict is an “opportunity” for bonding and growing the relationship. Studies also show that open communication about your sex life greatly enhances your sexual experiences. Learning the art of healthy communication around sex can be a little intimidating at times but by doing so, you’ll open the door to a more fulfilling sex life.
