Virtual Therapy

What is Virtual therapy?

Just as Telehealth refers to health care services provided from a distance—whether through online messaging, telephone, or video chat—Virtual Therapy, also known as Telemental Health is mental or behavioral health services provided through technology.

It allows psychiatrists, therapists, and other mental health professionals to reach their clients despite long distance or the client’s inability to come to the office.

Is Virtual Therapy as effective as in-office therapy?

Studies show that Virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy. It also greatly increases access to care for many patients who may not otherwise be able to seek treatment. Allowing patients to seek treatment in their own home leads to less travel, fewer absences from work, less time waiting and more choices for treatment.

What if I’m not tech savvy?

You simply need an email address and a phone, tablet or laptop. I will email you a link and when you click on it, you will be waiting in the virtual waiting room.  Your device will ask you for permission to allow use of the camera and audio. At the time of our appointment, I will invite you in and we can begin our Virtual therapy session.

Is Virtual Therapy HIPPA compliant?

Lori Hall, LCSW uses Simple Practice, which is a HIPPA compliant TeleMental Health platform.

Do you accept Insurance for Virtual Sessions?

Yes! I am in-network with Optum (United Behavioral Health/United Health Care) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. It is important that you contact your health insurance provider prior to our initial meeting to confirm that you have mental health benefits.
